We celebrated Chinese Lunar New Year with a demonstration in Chester Town Centre. We were lucky to have an absolutely glorious sunny but cold day. In our new white outfits, the wild winds made us look a little like doves ( we like to think we are so graceful!). It is really an honour to be part of this community event, which is due to the hard work of the Wah Lei Chinese Association – complete with traditional lion dances, dragon parade and children’s choirs. We did a short performance in the Storyhouse Theatre as well. This is such a well-used arts and community space and our first experience of performing there.
Afterwards we all had noodles – which in Chinese tradition is good luck for “living a long and prosperous life. ”
