Ji Siu Tai Chi Chuan is based in Chester, Cheshire and was established in 2005. We run Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan classes, suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
Our syllabus covers:
- Traditional Wu Style Long Form (Square form and Round form)
- Push hands
- Chi Kung exercises
- Weapon forms (Staff, Whip rod, Sabre, Spear, Sword)
- Self Defence applications
Students can explore the different aspects of Tai Chi if they wish, as guided by the instructor and dependent on level of training. We encourage enjoyment and appreciation of each person’s own Tai Chi journey.

“Ji Siu” is Cantonese – Chinese for “Purple Cloud”, in reference to the Purple Cloud Temple, built in 1119 on Wudang Mountain in China. The acknowledged founder of Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan, Zhang San Feng, was understood to have lived on Wudang Mountain.
See the “About our classes” section for information about current classes. We are available for workshops and performances. We have performed at cultural community events, for community and corporate groups, and at Chester’s Chinese New Year street celebrations for the past 5 years. Instructor Maria Yuen is also available for private tuition. Get in touch for any queries on jisiutaichi@gmail.com
